@apps I'm having odd behavior with the new media layout and sizing changes. On the same message, sometimes the image previews will be about half the width of the screen and centered, and sometimes they use the full width. It keeps switching back and forth, which causes the timeline to jump up and down.

@appsSwitched it off, since most of the links I click lead to articles I want to read later. But once in a while I'd like to read stuff immediately, thus and option "open here" on long press would be great.Btw., the name in settings is not self-explanatory, the option in the long-press menu is.Great feature anyway. Thanks for it.

@tjk A space in messages dedicated to media that should avoid jumps. But whatever, jumps you noticed don't seem to be related to media but something else. A video would help.

@apps I'll send a video if I find a case I can reproduce, but so far I can't, even if I clear my cache.I can describe what I remember happening after updating to 3.18.0 today, though. I was reading this message specifically: https://hachyderm.io/@timbray/109858950954486710I think the images started small and centered, not full-width. They were stacked on top of each other. I starred the message, which made them smaller and centered in the timeline. I opened the images and looked at both in detail, which did not change their size after exiting. Finally, I clicked the link preview, which opened the site in the Firefox in-app browser. I selected "Open in Firefox" from the menu to save the page for later, then switched back to Fedilab and closed the in-app browser - this also changed the size of the images. Since then, they've stayed full-width.I may have gotten some of the ordering wrong, and it's possible the size changes were caused by something else in the background, but those were my actions.

@appsThank you for the information! When I first saw this setting, I thought it was related to the timelines tabs (e.g. lists and servers), not browser tabs. Maybe changing from "Custom tabs" to "Use in-app browser" or "Use browser custom tabs" would make this setting's purpose clearer.

@apps I like how it looks visually with the new image aspect ratio!But everything is S.L.O.W. The interface stutters while scrolling, and it won't go fast. Audi, I'm seeing a lot more image placeholders where they haven't loaded yet.

@apps I don't know how - it only seems to happen the first time I see a message. I cleared my cache, restarted, and went back to that message, but the images were already full width. I guess I have to start screen-recording every interaction with Fedilab.

@tjk Yes, the goal is to understand what's at the origin. I don't think it's a specific kind of messages but mostly like the first message seen having some elements after starting the app.

@apps I'll disable previews for a while. I assume that will fix it because there's nothing to load in after the fact. (I'll miss them; I like the feature.) I do use fit previews because I don't like the cropping. :(

@apps It's still cropping out a large portion of each image. Here's an example from https://hachyderm.io/@thomasfuchs/109869806578969071 - see attached image, where each of the three previews only shows a small portion of the picture.

@apps It seems to be that when I first open the app, performance is good.But then as I scroll through my various timelines, it gets progressively slower, and even the frame rate of scrolling through my timeline columns at the top is slow.
