@bronze @MelGibsonafter4Beers Demons are real but I’ve come to believe their influence on us is extremely dependent upon the level of faith held by their victims/surroundings. More primitive areas without modern first world “science is king” education tends to give them greater latitude to affect people. That begets a cycle where they share their experiences and before you know it even the smarter disbelieving ones are able to experience things they can’t explain. Ironically talking about them like this also empowers them to a very minor extent. Righteous men will always have power over them, but that’s never conveyed to the populace. They’re built up into these horrifying, unbeatable, supernatural, powerful entities - but demons only have as much power as you allow them.

I’ve known very sober, intelligent guys who told me in no uncertain terms that there’s some evil shit out there - and you can discern truth from bit talking when it comes to things of the soul like that. I’m not quite sure about the actual processes of posession, and I hate the idea that sin is foremost caused anything but our own agency, but I get a decided “yeah don’t talk a big game there, kid“ sensation from my own internal spiritual compass when it comes to belittling the powers of Satan. That’s why I said a righteous man can take them on, because he has a measure of mastery over himself to deny whatever temptation they’re dangling. Self-discipline is probably the greatest bugbear of the modern man…. its dearth is a severe spiritual weakness today. And its a little scary to be boastful about going toe to toe with a deceiver who’s been in this line of work for 10,000 generations. I’m certainly not up for it.

I myself didn’t have a lot of firsthand experience, but I came across enough people that rang true enough to convince me they see things we don’t here. Over time, I met other upstanding whites who said similar. Experiences like that aren’t good to be shared, though. You just get the feeling that you’re doing more harm than good throwing them around, so anyone who HAS been in something will keep it close to the chest until the time feels right. It’s hard to explain until you feel it but it’s like you’re tuned in to this older, more ancient wifi network when you deal with this stuff, you can just sense that something is bad or not - and the topic always trips it. That’s why I wouldn’t usually talk about it online. It’s something to be shared face to face so you don’t miss out on that essential component.

If we understand what demons want which is to stop people coming to Christ and/or to cause them to drift away from Him. But also due to the Great Apostasy there's probably not much they need to do other than maintain the status quo. That's not to say that they never take overt action but from what I've observed it's normally subtle.You say a 'righteous' man cannot be influenced by demons. No fallen human is righteous enough to not be influenced by demons. But every single believer can call upon the name of Christ to be saved from the demonic. You are called to be watchful so be watchful of your own thoughts and actions. When an unusual thought pops up rebuke it with the name of Christ. If you ever so much as feel like something is off call upon the name of Christ.Do not expect yourself to be immune to demonic influence. We are all susceptible to it just as we are all susceptible to sin. Don't make the mistake of thinking you're a Paladin either with some power to fight demons. Be aware of yourself, your thoughts and your actions. Be disciplined and hold tight to Christ for deliverance and forgiveness when you stumble. Remember always that He died for ALL sins which means ALL sins can be forgiven if you repent.

The lives of the people who participate in this stuff are all completely ordinary. It doesn't matter how many chickens they kill for whatever spirit they think they are serving, they still have to deal with life problems in the same way as everyone else. Sickness, unemployment, failed relationships, whatever it is. They don't think that they are damning their souls with these rituals though.I think famous people into this stuff with the awareness that they are doing something evil get into it as another part of the "blackmail ring" among the rich and powerful. They have to show that they are as rotten as everyone else to be part of the club, and nothing like "black magic" to show that they reject God completely and are absolutely devoted to their decadent lives. Maybe they even start just larping and eventually believe in it, who knows. This is still not satan giving them anything, it's rather evil people serving evil rather than them being served by evil.

Was worse when I was an atheist because I had no clue WTF was going on. Since I turned back to God and became Christian it’s happened much less, only twice in the last three years or so. First time it happened I just asked God to wake me up, and I snapped awake so fast I didn’t even have time to finish asking Him. Second time God made me ask three times before waking me up. Probably because I wasn’t doing what I was supposed to be doing at that point in time. Either way, not nearly as scary as it used to be.

God has His Warrior Angels to actively fight, sword in hand, against the enemy. All we need to do and sometimes all we can do is call upon the name of Christ. If we try and go beyond that we are likely to stumble.
