       Global patent landscapes for life saving medicines are unnecessarily non-transparent.  For the SMA drug risdiplam, the SEC filings by PCT Therapeutics just refer to whole regions as having patents in "certain" countries, and Roche won't elaborate on the PCT national phase data, which does not tell the whole story.

       KEI is in discussions with generic drug manufacturers to supply affordable versions of #risdiplam for the treatment of #sma.  Having more transparent global patent landscape data is important.

       To appreciate why this is important, note that the retail US price for #risdiplam is more than $1,100 per day for the 5mg dose, and the API for the drug can be manufactured at scale for about 10 cents a day.  #sma

       @Penelope Patents are national (or regional in some cases). A patent landscape tells you in which countries patents have been filed and granted.

       @jameslove   sadly they are ,here in Australia small businesses have been sued for using names close ..not the same close to patent names belonging to large American corporations and the corps win Also we cannot reproduce pharmaceuticals patented in USA  ..TRY AND ONCE AGAIN YOU GET SUED   car parts all sorts of bits and bobs  patented in the USA can not be made here even if they only resemble the patented product Same applies to Africa whose countries wanted to make  covid vaccine not allowed
