@YorkshireTea I was about to say odd that Manchester isn't on the list what with it being super woke under Burnham .... Then I scrolled up and it's there under G for Greater Manchester...

@YorkshireTea one thing I don't get... As in I don't understand why the council doesn't see it as a major problem is that while traffic calming sounds good in principle the problem is that with narrower lanes cars have no choice but to crash into small potholes that quickly become large potholes whereas in the past you could just change lanes to avoid it. This makes the potholes even worse and nobody seems to have made the connection.

@YorkshireTea another bugbear I have as a cyclist. Rusholme in South Manchester didn't have cycle lanes until not that long ago. It was dangerous with cars cutting across, true but the problem with cycle lanes is that it's full of people. People are more likely to, and often do, walk right into cycle lanes than they are roads and unlike an open road you cannot just swerve to avoid them.I speak from experience.

@YorkshireTea oh and then there's the genius who decided to put cycle lanes up in Salford next to a tramline. Sounds... Ok. But how do you sweep and clean them? You don't. The cycle lane is full of mud and grit for as long as I remember in the lower places the water settles...

@smartbrain I don't believe they're big on joined up thinking. Reality and common sense are viewed as obstacles to their never ending list of stupid ideas. I do feel they are going to try and push this nonsense too quickly and there will be pushback at some point.

@YorkshireTea on and here's another one to ponder. London ulez... They're banning polluting cars. Okay... Let's say that's a good idea and we'll run with it.... However by going after euro 5 certification for diesels they've still allowed loads of cars that are polluting (hello, dieselgate?)It's like. Let's ignore reality and pretend the auto companies didn't break the law and make a plan based on this lie.My brain hurts.
