       a great way to prevent active shooters from occurring is to have a large number of passive shooters at all times to make being an active shooter not worth it.

       @jeff One of the problems with this logic is that a good chunk of people who become mass shooters nowadays aren't really doing it because they want to kill - they're doing it because they want to die.

       @jeff Yes but also "I want to die" is a compelling reason to start shooting people. Even moreso when you know that there's a bunch of people with guns who can kill you.

       @jeff Will add that I think "people generally being armed" solves a non-negligible chunk of the problem, but not the entire one. There also has to be a component of "making a society which is good enough that people don't want to just die."

       @jeff I agree, as far as action is concerned.I think that it's important to also acknowledge that these things will continue happening even with the partial solution in place - I don't think it does any good to put it forth as a solution to the entire problem, and there are people who will see it that way.
