The thing about calling machine learning "AI" constantly is that it creates the widespread expectation of actual intelligence and there is none, zero, that is not what is happening here.

@seldo but the answer was returned in a british accent so it must be smart

@seldo As I said elsewhere recently, AI is just ML with a marketing budget.

@seldo AI was always a BS term with a constantly shifting meaning. if you go back far enough, nonvolatile memory was considered “AI”. we should get rid of it because it never meant anything anyway

@seldo if we are anywhere, we are in the TSR-80/Z-80 era. The AI space will explode, but we can not imagine it looking at 8bit computers with less memory than a digital thermometer. I personally think when we finally move away from binary processors to something like Trinary that can have yes, no and yes/no (aka maybe) that AI will be what is promised today by the hypers. But for things like training a ML model in legal libraries, medical cases and other deep learning databases will be great tools to assist experts in distilling information into manageable bits

@seldo I treat artificial intelligence with same skepticism I give to artificial crab

@gneilyo the two are roughly equally intelligent.

@seldoThere are philosophy scholars who debate #AIethics. Now who will explain to them that these are only statistical inference algorithms that simulate intelligence just like a television simulates a space-time portal.

@seldoYou could say the same about the term "machine learning."
