why won't we ever think of the fediverse users who are never here or who just repost from twitter, it must be awful for them not to understand how this works

in all fairness, it's true that people want MAXIMUM SIMPLICITY AT ALL TIMES (i cry handling bad phone apps or windows for example) buuut there was a time where people would go to complicated lengths to pirate movies and music because it was convenient. and now, elsewhere, you have more surveillance, dumb billionaries, reactionary moderation, ADS ADS ADS ADS, and at some point other things can become convenient.

which would explain why i read people say that of multiple waves of people signing up here, a percentage sticks.

the online social problem is that people need to learn to create and manage their own communities (hopefully more than one, instead of one for everything.)the technological-social problem is the stuff with the servers and developing programs beyond this because people have to get paid.deep down stuff like twitter solves neither.also why do people call tiny attempts at self-management "libertarian", are we dumb?

@calotriton I never used twitter, and I’ll probably not use mastodon that much either. I prefer an interface that’s posts and comments, and this is everything coming in at the same level all mixed up. I like the people here for the most part, I just have kinds of organizations in an interface that I prefer.

@drooling_fan_girl oh i like that organization too. i think we should have an option to only see original posts and click to see comments. or plug in a different program in the network like that

@calotriton I don’t know if it’s the add or what. I do like the people.
