Nikko Tosho-gu shrine is the most beautiful #shrine we have seen in #Japan . It has the famous "three monkey" carvings in many places and the buildings are plastered with gold. What is the most beautiful #temple or #shrine you have been to?#Travel https://ift.tt/0XfAIT5

@Helderweb @activeliving #1/2 A friend of ours who has visited Myanmar three (or maybe more) times told us right before the pandemic that he would not visit Myanmar due to the civil war and riots. Everything I have read makes me think that Myanmar is a super fascinating country. So, it is still on my list, but we will wait for more peaceful times to go. In the meantime, we are visiting lots of other countries around the world.

@Helderweb @activeliving #2/2 As for the largest Buddha, that is great to know as I was not aware of it. BTW, we were thinking of hiring a personal driver for much of the time - I found lots of great reviews on tripadvisor. Would you think that is a good way to go?

Buses, hostels and motorcycle tours...it worked for me.

@backpackandsnorkel @Helderweb when things are better, Iwould recommend train travel between cities, and local drivers or cabs in town, and some public transportation where practical.
