Almost all doctors and hospitals are amazing from a knowledge and technology perspective. That's not the important dimension for you. The most important dimensions are:* Does your doctor care about Black people? Really care?* Does your doctor believe you? Really believe you?* Does your doctor know the difference between different factors due to race vs racism?

@clive I'm not saying your OBG GYN needs to be Black. And just choosing a Black doctor won't save you. Some Black doctors don't care either. 🤷🏿♂️But if in the US, if you choose the "best" doctor according to other people's criteria, instead of a doctor according to the above criteria, you're playing with your life.Choose a doctor of any color that cares for and believes you.

@mekkaokereke @clive This also goes for queerness, and the particular problems that that affect LGBTQ+ folks, but sometimes passing people think they can get away with just not telling their docs, and that's another really bad idea. :/I've just moved to another country and am not out to my doc yet even though I know that's important. These conversations are so hard to have.

@clive Sorry I realised how confusing my message was afterwards and edited it (badly). I am an NYT subscriber. I just couldn't read that article specifically because of what it says about us as humans and our values. How little has changed regarding racism. That is such a painful story.
