As a Jew and a parent of a trans kid, I am having a lot of challenges with the gaming community’s acceptance of the new wizard game. The creator of that IP is a gleeful anti-trans bigot. The game’s story is built around blood libel. And yet, outlets are still giving it huge play and content creators are conveniently ignoring the harm this game’s profits will directly contribute to. Everyone needs to make their own choice, sure. But I am having a hell of a time not judging people.

There are other horrible things in the gaming industry that would be deserving of being boycotted and yet people don't care. Fun fact: People didn't give a fuck about goblins in world of warcraft despite the fact they could be also seen as following some stereotypes like the big nose thing and the greediness. I did not realize at the time I first saw them but I learned about that stereotype later on and made the connection. Aside for that though, the only thing I meant to say with my previous comments is that people get upset selectively. Rowling is highly disliked now, and for good reasons, and since that sentiment is common this game is receiving this reaction, to the point of bullying those who may not even know about all of this.There's many other videogames that people should be upset about but since the reason is not as well known nobody cares, even worse, I'm willing to bet that even if they knew they wouldn't care.

The strike was over working conditions creating mass turnover with rail companies, even though rail workers get killer benefits and pensions. The cause of this was Norfolk Southern ignoring regulatory measures. They're saying it was cost-cutting, but it's much harder to keep up with safety and accountability measures when you're so deep in LEAN bullshit that you only have a bare minimum of exhausted and demoralized workers to run the train to begin with.
