Thank you to @RL_Dane and @frenchguych for pointing out the audio problems in the TuxJam Episode 101. These have been sorted, please re-download the episodes if you would like to hear the music playing out of more than one speaker 😂

@RL_Dane @tuxjam @frenchguych @mcnalu thanks for that, but I have ZERO intention of doing TuxJam solo again. It took up so much time researching enough to talk for around 45mins on my own. TBH that was what led to TuxJam taking a break for a while until I got Andrew to agree to co-host

@kevie TuxJam has not actually reviewed a BSD. A few have been mentioned in the Distrowatch section.@RL_Dane @mcnalu @thelovebug

@mcnaluSweet!I liked #OpenBSD for the pure Unix feel of it. #FreeBSD is loved for being very feature complete#NetBSD runs on almost any hardware imaginable@SolusSpider @kevie @thelovebugEdit: typo

@mcnalu @SolusSpider @kevie @thelovebug...This video walkthrough on #PeerTube (also available on that *other* platform) helped me get up and going: https://videos.danksquad.org/w/sFB4yzQfEw51ddrAVnwiVD(But the OpenBSD FAQ is very helpful, too)Bon chance, whichever #BSD you pick! (Just not MacOS/iOS! lol)

@mcnalu @SolusSpider @kevie @thelovebugP.S. The other cool thing about openbsd is that it boots you into a fairly functional-but-basic Unix desktop with three WMs: cwm (vaguely similar to dwm/i3wm), fvwm (classic), and twm (ancient). You get the basics without having to add a bunch of packages from ports....

@RL_Dane @mcnalu @SolusSpider @kevie @thelovebug Have never tried #OpenBSD but ever since moving all of my servers to #FreeBSD around two years ago, I haven’t looked back. I’m a hobbyist that spent over 15 years in the #linuxdistro hopping sphere and got super bored and frustrated with various different distros, especially for server related usage. Took me awhile to get used to how things were done but the community has been great, the built in features and support have been overall pleasant, and #netgraph , a networking implementation that doesn’t get used very often and has been around since the late 70s/early 80s (sources vary; it’s just very old), has been the surprise most-used part of my network stack.I love how much obscure and/or mostly undocumented technology is still being maintained in #freebsd despite being superceded by modern ones. Even though there are always “better” ways to accomplish tasks, better doesn’t always mean the “best” way depending on usage and needs.Edit: mobile typos
