@watch4thedrop Yep.. and even into the early 60's when I first started working for the USFS we went to training and ate survival cookies and had to wear dosimeters and report the reading monthly. Early 50' we were under our desks.

@Debradelai @watch4thedrop I' m pre babyboomer. I probably have a poor thyroid from nuke fallout from the testing. I grew up in mid Ohio so obviously in line of the prevailing winds.

@ChaplainEric @watch4thedropIn grade school in the 60s here in Kansas, some schools did the "duck and cover" drills occasionally. The only drills I remember were the tornado drills. (Along with the regular fire drills.)That was more of a threat. I guess they figured if WW3 started, we were SOL, so concentrate on the tornadoes. π
