@Are0h I've been thinking about this for a while now.We don't have the community safety tools here that should be part of the foundation of the platform.It relies on people exposing themselves to harmful conduct to know who to block and depending on instances to do that blocking for them.I see no reason why I shouldn't be able to subscribe to individual users blocklists, or wierder.earth's blocklist.Why not include tools that help users manage their experiences here?

@Are0h Different groups have different requirements and things that are harmful to them. It should be easy and accessible for people to maintain safe environments for themselves.Today for example, how many users and instances of transfolks all had to see and block the same users for the same posts?Decisions on what features need to be developed and included really need to be based in marginalized communities, otherwise there's no real reason many people to be here instead of Twitter.

@Are0h Perspectives on here are so close to "the default" any time something happens."Don't join big instances" with the example of that instance saying it's shutting down in May.Why do people feel the need to join large instances?Is that need affected by the demographics people are in?Like has been said in the past, there are too many people who are used to just belonging everywhere. They shouldn't be the ones making decisions.I'm preaching to the choir, you know all this already.

@MightySisserou@blacktwitter.io What's happening in the fedi is a microcosm of the societies we exist in. If we built around the needs of those are marginalized everyone would benefit. The resistance to this basic idea is a reflection of the people who are building the tools. And they just don't care about anyone else's perspective even if ti results in better software. This is no different from centralized platforms.
