I’ve already seen it IRL. The more chicks they jam through pilot training, the worse it gets. I’ve been in the room with guys when they get called by company management to say “hey man, uh….I heard there was a little tiff yesterday? Krystal said you were pretty hostile to her last night“ because the dude didn’t go out to dinner with the girl and the FA’sThe dynamic for airline guys is the worst - you spend all day with a woman in the cockpit, then end up somewhere else for the night so she’ll end up wanting to hang out with you since you’re the only cool person she knows in town. Turn down her overtures to “grab something to eat” or “just go hang out at the bar” without a good excuse adds a little too much risk. Best to tell them “sorry, I gotta go facetime my wife” or “oh I promised my mom I’d call her tonight, she’s dealing with a lot of stuff” to get out of it.

I’ve been collecting these stories from guys in the industry because it’s unanimously infuriating and baffling to all. So far, I’ve heard of pilots getting in trouble for: Not engaging in conversation (during cruise, of course, gotta abide by regs) because the guy didn’t have anything to say to the older lady talking about her cats and their many health issuesNot going out to an after work crew dinner/bar venture. This is the most common because they’ll say “you need to eat! What reason do you have to just head up to the room unless you HATE being around her?” Not riding in the same elevator when they got to their hotel…because the dude had diarrhea and had to sprint to the lobby bathroom. That was reported by the other chick who wanted the chief pilot to tell him to be ‘nicer’ to her and less ‘standoffish’
