My computer screens randomly go black and my computer has to hard reboot at complete random. I suspect it might be the GPU overheating, but the GPU remains at a cool temperature and it happens when not doing GPU-intensive work. Could it be a voltage issue with the wall socket? I'm tempted to get a backup external PSU.

You can get wattage monitors online pretty cheap. You plug it in to the wall, then the PC in to it. Is your computer plugged into a UPS?

@josh voltage issue, temp issue, any number of thingsi'd try reseating your components and maybe lowering the max clocks of your gpu or even undervolting it a teeny bit, if that fails then yeah try the PSU

@matty @josh If you don't trust your building's wiring, this is the way to go before spending a lot more money.If it's at complete random, not correlated with power spikes, then your RAM might be going bad.

@josh Holy shit, I am having exactly the same problem.Like @Heracles said, I am not getting anything in the eventlog, it just turns off my screen and people I talk with can still hear me, and I can hear them. I have checked connections and it doesn't seem to be that, either.

Get yourself a decent surge protector (if you have an old one, just be safe and replace).In my experience, and garage of 40+ computers. It’s always two things; bad psu, or surge/dirty power. Pull the wall socket out and check connections, look for corrosion or electrical burns. (Only after turning off the breaker).Obviously go from cheapest to more expensive. These are the most common issues I’ve seen. 😬
