@cattailnu Each line on his face was a memory, a memory of her. Each scar he bore reminded him of the battles he had fought - w/ her, w/ the workers, w/ the representatives.He never saw his kids again after her diagnosis. He thought the knowledge would help them come to terms with her actions and their childhood. Maybe it was just the excuse they needed to walk away.Even through all that, he hoped. He held onto the hope that at the end of it all some kind of reconciliation might happen.

He thought of the day he'd told her that he wasn't happy anymore. "But I am," she cried. He knew she'd never forgive him. Such was his punishment.
