Wait, we’re not debating the merits of Steely Dan? Let me weigh in.Great band, solid songwriting, devoid of emotion.

@oldguycrusty @BodyofBreen Freaking Iconic! Fagan was a weird one, but quite a composer, and Becker, just phenomenal guitar work, and the intelligence of the writing. Sorry guys, I gotta get my big black cow and get out of here.Did you know Chevy Chase was supposedly an early drummer for an earlier iteration of the band?

@KillerMule @BodyofBreen Huge fan of Steely Dan. I have never heard the chevy chsse thing before.I recently re digitized my Steely Dan vinyl. Focusrite interface, sony turntable, Reaper DAW, great tools for surface noise without f*king up the audio. Even with the surface noise, those tracks sound so good. Amazing stuff.

@oldguycrusty @BodyofBreen That's really neat, you have to be capturing a lot more signal because you're so mich closer to the analog signal, and you get to choose the quality level you want. But you Can't Buy a Thrill you know.

@oldguycrusty @BodyofBreen As the story goes, Chase and the duo were part of a band called The Leather Canary, which played together while the three were at Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York. Chase was the drummer, with Fagen playing his trademark keyboard, and Becker on the guitar. Chase described the band in his book as a "bad jazz band", and it appears as though the band didn't have a terribly long shelf life.https://1045theteam.com/was-chevy-chase-a-member-of-steely-dan-at-new-yorks-bard-college/

@KillerMule @BodyofBreen Wow! Thank you. I had no idea, but great article. Seems like "Leather Canary" would be the sort of name they could all agree on.Thanks for the reference. So btw I have CDs of AJA & Katy Lied, but I have multiple LP copies of just about everythingSo if one track is too hammered on one LP, I may have a cleaner version on another. Having .WAV files is just more convenient & I can listen more easily & often.Pro re-mastered CDs would be great but not available..
