~60% of people don't get how important AI and chat assistants are to the future of search https://www.seroundtable.com/poll-google-vs-bing-34881.html poll via @MKBHD #bing #google #chatgpt #ai #search #microsoft

@rustybrick The thing is, Bing has yet to prove that their search results will improve through the implementation of new AI features. The additional ChatGPT function is an additional feature and allows new kinds of queries, no doubt. But for classical search queries that consist only of one to three keywords, Google already has the better AI implemented so far. For many purposes, it's not necessary to change. Chat search needs a new style of asking questions to suit a new algorithm.

@rustybrick important as in “good” or important as in “bad”? I still can’t understand how google wants to rule the roost with Bard, yet considers Ai content “black hat”?

@rustybrick I don't think people have adapted the way they interact with search to wrap their head around this._Talk_ to it, and it will tokenize the question and provide a conversational response that you can dig into if you want to see the provenance of a particular answer. It's more like exchanging links with a colleague than feeding key words to a search engine and scrolling through the list.

@rustybrick Maybe the question was a bit ambiguous. It may not necessarily be that people don't see the potential, they may just currently prefer a format with more options to select from. It's a like voice search, it's relatively new & has its limits in the return of information. It takes time to learn how to format your input to get the most useful output (just as it did when the general public encountered search engines for the first time on a grand scale).
