@lowqualityfacts although we shouldn't, we *do" accept "brutality" or more precisely abuse from a number of these professions- nurses, teachers, doctors, judges and others have historically and even to this day been permitted to treat black people (and others) with lower standards or even positively harm them. It happens in much the same way as it does with police and it's part of the same racist structures.

@lowqualityfacts We do, however, tolerate sexual or non-physical abuse from many of those groups. We also need to recognize that the vast majority of abusers of any sort are men. It’s so commonplace it’s become normalized.

@lowqualityfacts We don’t, because teachers and doctors and athletes and judges and mail carriers etc don’t have our politicians terrified that they’ll personally brutalize them and torture their family members if they get out of line. We have no democracy. We have created and enabled a caste of violent criminals that hold our entire society hostage.

@lowqualityfacts Others have noted the issues with some groups here, but I'll actually note a positive example of regulation and law actually working to contain harm: pilots and aviation. Look at just how few planes crash in this country, and of those that do, how few (recently) are full-on "all persons lost" crashes. That is *because* we regulate pilots and planes and airports etc...

@lowqualityfacts unless you think all laws are just and our economy is uncorrupted I'd question that claim about lawyers and accountants, and I'd also say researchers have done some pretty terrible things throughout history.

@lowqualityfacts I know you're trying to make a point about police brutality, but actually we do accept brutality from most of those.Teachers regularly psychologically abuse kids (but similar to how parents do, so it's fine).Doctors are regularly awful to women, PoC, and the disabled.Judges are routinely worse than cops.Firefights (depending on location) work with the cops and treat the marginalize terrible. In particularly, they were the ones who fatally "sedated" Elijah McClain in colorado.Author brutality is clearly fine as one just has to look at JKR.Engineers (software) build the surveillance State. Other kinds are the ones who work for Raytheon & co.Lawyers (see judges).Researchers reinforced racism and sexism regularly (among other things).Nurse (see doctor)Dentist (see doctor)No, I am not fun at parties.

@bunnyjadwiga @lowqualityfacts sure but also most of those don’t require getting physical as there are few jobs that do. Police and security being among that small number. Plus is the economic abuse of a politician less heinous than the physical abuse by a cop? I wouldn’t try to compare them tbh
