I also told my parents in law they could hack their Tesla and unlock every feature since it's build in already only they cannot access it since they don't have the 'licence' 🤔 Hack the sh*t out of it :flan_hacker:

If I buy a device or whatever it's mine and I will do with it as I see fit :ed_grin: Apple always was bitchy about jailbreaking and threatening people that warrenty is lost when you jailbreak your device but guess what..In the past I've send 2 devices back to Apple for repair and both where jailbroken goooood. Even the root pass was changed ofc and no trouble at all..So don't be scared and OWN your device, it's yours

@stux This is precisely why my Steam Deck has been such an amazing breath of fresh air. Imagine that, it's actually possible to build good hardware, with a working app store and also make it open.

@stux Very well said, Stux! This is why I absolutely adore the Steam Deck and just how open and modular it is. Steam has hit a home run with this device both in terms of software set and hardware set.

@stux that's nice. Apple is shit when it comes to jailbreaking and sideloading applications, while on Android there are still lots of devices that can be easily unlocked and replaced even with a different OS in some cases.Unfortunately, there are still vendors who replicate Apple on that thing, but at least we have lots of decent choices for devices.Personally, one of the things I look when I replace my phone is to be hackable and to support at least a decent custom ROM.

@stux in my experience Apple is more strict when it comes to hardware stuff, which can also be a problem, from my own experience the water trigger was always a huge thing with customers, it could turn from say, the steam in the shower, but Apple would say "no, sorry, sensor tripped, no dice"nowadays that's also gone, so i feel it's only just checking for user damage and if none found, swap

@stux Yep I won't buy a device if I can't unlock the bootloader & root it. Certain providers here (I'm looking at you Verizon) sell devices that are hard if not impossible to unlock and modify
