@mo @nano lets be real, the only reason people like USB-C is that the connectors aren't constantly falling apart like micro and they're not difficult to plug in like USB-A.Nobody actually cares about the weird bullshit where either end can be host. they just want a connector that isn't terrible.

@mo @nano I continue to maintain that the correct solution to this from a UX perspective is to sell unidirectional USB-C cables that only permit power to flow in the direction of the giant arrows that would be printed on it. Thus it's real easy for users. Just follow the arrows on the cable.

@mo @nano laptops usually have only one USB-C port that allows power coming in. So if you want to charge another device from your laptop... Plug it into one of the other ports.

@nano @amberage @alfredohno the solution existed before, usb-a was for devices large enough and other standards were for small devicesbut because feature innovation happens (as it will because it's a single type of port for everything) you got different standards.There's zero reason to axe the usb-a ports when all the de-standardisation happens on the other devices.(also I will now ask satan for a second coming of µ usb-b 3.0 because y'all are sinners and the world deserves it)

@mo Why would one use his phone to charge anything at all? The only use case I can come up with is some sort of e-cigarette/vaporizer, but you'd better not use anything but the wall charger with those things unless you want to get the board fried 🤷

@mo @nano The solution is simple, Burn USB C to the ground and start fresh with something actually good.But until then, use a USB C to USB A charge cable, with a USB C to USB A OTG cable. (I have actually done this, it worked)
