Wow, I'm glad that I took Information Theory as my elective subject. Now Im able to understand how to calculate password strength and why the length of a password matters more than its complexity. Essentially, it's about calculating the entropy of a password, assuming we are using English alphabets with lowercase and uppercase that has the same possibility of occurrence. The longer the password is, the larger of its entropy, the more secure it is.

Of course, the possibility of English alphabets are not truly evenly distributed. Some characters is more possible to be used compare to others. Nevertheless, it's still trivial to calculate the password entropy even using this more complex scenario. It's better to have a long but easily understandable password in contrast to a long but complex password as they will have roughly the same security level against brute force attack.

@littleclover Now I start to wonder what an English alphabet is, do you guys use some kind of your own alphabet?
