Quite a few people have been connecting to our new Systems Concepts SC40 PDP-10 Here is an image gallery of what it looks like on the inside:https://twenex.org/sc40/The SC40 kept the 36bit computing market alive through the 1990s into the 2000s. Services like CompuServe and Tymnet relied on them.If you're interested in an account, check out https://twenex.org for access to our XKL Toad-2 which will also get you an account on the SC40.#retrocomputing #pdp10 #hacking

@SDF Spent 10 years of my life maintaining PDP10 operating system-- not sure I could remember how to use one now (PIP, TECO and SYSTAT aside).

@alderson Stewart and Michael moved and had to clean out their house. And to reassure you this was never associated with OATH which is a collection that is still intact right now. The upside of that is this has an ETHERNET. Doesn't it feel faster than a Toad?

@SDF Great! Insane system. It's a great idea to access with the twenex account. :sdf: The Toad-2 runs the same TOPS-20 version (Monitor)?

@peron Mars TOPS-20 is a different fork than XKL TOPS-20.

@SDF @darkuncle fun to see this. My first computing experience was on Decsystem 10. I don’t think I need to repeat that nowadays though…

@SDF @alderson I ran a Dhrystone test (which I got from MRC) on the Toad-2 and the SC40. Given Mark's old list of results, the Toad-1 was 1.6x a 2065, and my results say the Toad-2 is 3.1x, and the SC40 is 10.1x.KLH10-KL on my Raspberry pi 4 is 24.8x. Of course, Dhrystone/s is not all that matters.

@SDF @bv Since it can do Ethernet, it can also do Chaosnet.
