@lauren I am convinced this is why so much money is being put into systems that use LLMs like ChatGPT: so they can more easily generate tailored misinformation to manipulate the hoi polloi. By the way, when I typed hoi polloi just then, auto-correct suggested My Pillow.

@lauren Given the old adage of "a picture is worth a thousand words," I'm even more terrified of DeepFake-style videos being able to be produced with just a prompt. When they become largely indistinguishable from real videos, disinformation is going to be the worst disease humanity has ever faced.

@cra1g It becomes much easier, but frankly photos and moving image technologies have been largely untrustworthy since their invention, absent rigorous chains of custody.
