       @clive @thinkStory @CyberpunkLibrarian @funcrunch Honestly, such industrial control systems are meant to last decades, as well has to be highly resilient.It makes sense that as their functionality does not change substantially, these systems should not require major upgrades or replacement over their long lives.Moreover, industrial control systems are very expensive, so we should all want them to last a long time, shouldn’t we?  😉

       @michelamarie @clive @thinkStory @CyberpunkLibrarian If the software program(s) can still function well enough to do what's needed after 40+ years, that's impressive, and kudos to the original programmers. But running anything off of floppy disks does not seem advisable or sustainable to me.(I'm old enough to remember a time before PCs were widely available, FWIW.)
