       @enigmatico  The amount of malware that gets served up through ads is no joke. And if you get hit with explicit ads that have illegal content the minute that hits your computer you could be on the hook for possession of it. There is no shame at all in using ad blockers, and even legitimate ad services have been known to get compromised as well.

       @LunaDragofelis@fedi.criminallycute.fi @paisley_peinforte@mastodon.social In that regard, package poisoning has been a thing and while it's rare, it's not impossible that some package might have been infected. So nothing is 100% safe. Is it better than fetching random .exes from who knows where? Probably. But definitely not 100% safe.It already happen a few times.
