Well fuck me, apparently this even made it into the news. Of course they're making up stuff, saying my geiger counter reading meant 11.75 Bq(‽)That's not how it works, a Geiger counter doesn't tell you the activity of something by holding it on there. Went back to take some better readings:Standing next to the wall it's 0.1 to 0.15 uSv/hOn contact it's up to 0.5 uSv/hA ludlum 44-9 reads around 100 kcpm on contact, hottest spot was 200 kcpm, almost all of that is beta.

@gigabecquerel Like the guy who got the whole Frankfurt mail sorting center shut down one day because a parcel coming in from the USA contained a tiny uranium-ore checksource, and was labelled as containing "radioactive material".The authorities had to admit, later, that he hadn't done anything wrong, and it was perfectly legal to ship the parcel.
