@kairyssdal But he deserves a victory lap. The Washington Post claims most Americans don't know what he's done the past two years...

@kairyssdal Fake em out in #congress and just do it from the oval. Make it short, less than 7 minutes. And those poor sitting duck guests can just come to the w h for ice cream after. Done.

@kairyssdal I’m filing that under “so cynical I couldn’t even finish it.”

@kairyssdal **CJ:** Should we postpone the State of the Union? What are the rules on that?**Toby:** He's required to give Congress information on the State of the Union. If he buys Congress a subscription to the Wall Street Journal, he's fulfilled his constitutional obligation.

@kairyssdal It's such an easy way to get a president's talking points in the headlines, I cannot imagine him skipping it. Making it short and pithy would be welcome, though.

@kairyssdal The constitution says to do it. The people expect it. Political enemies will make hay out of 'democrats hiding their ailing president who can't even give a speech'. He should keep it short and sweet; maybe hand-off to someone charismatic for the details, and give us some hope that there are young, capable Democrats ready to step up and take over if needed.

@kairyssdal enough of good news about Democrats! Our media which blacks out Biden’s prime time speeches would like to amend the Constitution to silence him completely. Then sneer at democrats for failing to get their message!

@kairyssdal For the people who brought us hours of empty podiums breathlessly waiting for outrage, substance is too insubstantial.

@kairyssdal I disagree. The mainstream media refuses to acknowledge the good things this president and the last Congress accomplished for the people. This is a perfect time for those who don’t know to be be educated. It’s also a perfect time for POTUS to lay down the gauntlet and challenge the GOP to actually govern and do good things for the people. (We KNOW this won’t happen, but the challenge makes the public aware of what they won’t do)

@kairyssdal If he'd just let Lin-Manuel Miranda write the speech, and then have Bad Bunny perform it, then it might be worth watching.

@kairyssdal you think that’s bad, then you get the governor of Arkansas asking to speak to America’s manager for a half hour

@kairyssdal If you don't like it, don't watch it. Better idea: this columnist should skip his column this week.
