       The biggest abuse committed by the Florida High School Athletics Association (FHSAA) is not their proposal to make menstruation questions mandatory for high school athletes on the Preparticipation Physical Evaluation (PPE) form.Their biggest abuse of the PPE is that they require the full details of the child’s confidential Medical History and Physical Evaluation to be provided to the school along with the Medical Eligibility form signed by the child’s primary care provider.continued

       Florida schools have no business requiring access to a child’s confidential Medical History and Physical Evaluation. But the FHSAA’s customized version of the PPE form made all of this information mandatory.Children's confidential medical records are stored in school offices which are not under HIPPA guidelines. These records are accessible by coaches, school administrators and whoever else chooses to access them (like a governor).

       AND, while DeSantis’ office didn't propose the menstruation mandate, state Educ Commissioner Manny Diaz, appointed by DeSantis, sits on the FHSAA board,and Diaz appointed three others to the FHSAA board.And I’m betting that this proposal to require children’s menstruation records was just the next step in DeSantis’s war on the rights of transgender athletes.
