Yoooo, if you had to recommend a game engine to a 100% noob to start using, someone who isn't even sure if they want to make games but wants to try it out, which would it be and why? #gamedev #indiedev

@beardalaxy I've only barely messed around with it but maybe the Construct 3 engine because it's browser based and it has a really simple, event-based visual-scripting system.

@beardalaxy Dreams? Game Builder Garage? Stuff like that. Games that let you build games. Plenty to get to the point of wanting to do more than the game easily makes possible. At which point they might be more interested in a more general engine.

@beardalaxy Gdevelop is a good way to get started for free because it has low friction for entry for any person of any age. Also great for someone who is not a coder, artist, audio engineer, etc. lots of YouTube tutorials and premade sample games. If they happen to grow out of it at some point they can research more code friendly engines later.

@icedquinn@blob.cat @beardalaxy@gameliberty.club Even after the horrendous remake of Warcraft III, the map editor remains one of the best in gaming history. So much power given to players, and so many cool maps and adventures created. It's a downright shame that gaming companies have stopped caring for their games and playerbases in such a way.
