       @ross It's always a tough balance to walk between adequately explaining a technical concept, and doing so in a way that most people can understand. I've often had to obfuscate the federated aspect of PeerTube, or even the fact that #PeerTube itself is underpinning tilvids.com when trying to explain it to prospective creators. Sometimes the first step just has to be getting people to acknowledge an alternative exists, rather than overwhelming them with every technical detail.Great article! 👍

       @tilvids @ross The irony is that it fails to note mismatch in the current implementations. I claim this is a direct result of the current arch. If your Mastodon post is plain text then your friend at Pixelfed will not see it. If your friend added a a book at Bookwyrm then you will not see at Mastodon. Is this level of Federation ok w you?

       @aswath @ross That's something the broader fediverse community is just going to have to collectively weigh in on over time. I've gone back and forth, and personally I think the current level of cross-communication is pretty good, as the alternative would likely lead the platforms to become so generic that there'd be little distinction between #Mastodon #PeerTube #Pixelfed etc.
