I just saw a post that compared usage of hammer and sickle to usage of swastika (in context of both being impossible to separate from a genocidal regime and reclaim in good faith).Swastika was made into a nazi symbol by Hitler personally. Hammer and sickle were designed by someone who became the enemy of the Soviet Union early on and was assassinated. I don't think we can compare.

@comrade_lecter it's funny because they compare us to genocidors (it's now a word shut up) but then call for the genocide of even us anti c maps. Society got some weirder fantasies than some of us tbh.

Fuck it, I'll just share the post https://palominocorn.tumblr.com/post/707528946206588928/hi-eastern-european-leftist-here-to-cosignIt starts with a reasonable premise - stop supporting Soviet Union - and ends with telling people not to call each other "comrade". "Comrade" isn't even a Russian word and has no connection to Soviet Union whatsoever. The word you're thinking of is "tovarishch".

@comrade_lecter I am a communist, I will support Lenin, after that the CCCP went off the rails. Mao was.... He was an idealist and that has its problems when ideals and reality are not actually the same. Most of the worst communist governments can be described that way. But there is absolutely no reason to disown the word "comrade" since, I don't think even "tovarishch" is reasonable to disown. It would be like disowning "Citizen" because of Revolutionary France.
