The balloon story must be driving U.S. spooks nuts. The last thing they want is all this attention to anything related to this area, since then the obvious questions start about U.S. surveillance capabilities and the horrific possibility of the dreaded BALLOON GAP!

@lauren the funniest part to me is that I read that the US govt claims that the balloon is of limited value to them anyway because there's not much they can glean with a balloon that they can't already get with a satellite. Which, if that's true, then I'm having a hard time understanding either the motive of the Chinese govt doing something so obvious like this, or everyone's panic over it.

@lauren I hate the term "fake news" popularize by T. But, the media handling of this balloon event redefines "fake news" -- it's breathless, not well informed, invites click bait-y content.Gag me.
