It is NOT RIGHT here tonight.It’s 5pm and it’s already -26 with windchill. The wind sounds like the death of hope. The house is swaying & creaking & sounding like every one of its 121 years, including new sounds I’ve never heard before.I don’t know how the night is gonna go, especially with a sick toddler who has thrown up on me 6 times today. This is some The Thing shit.

Totoro, 8 month old kitten, made an exploratory dash into the mud room while I was bringing in more firewood. @catvalente Central New York is in about the same boat. Closer to 0℉ than not, and absurd windchills We've had random snow squalls over the afternoon that've hidden the house across the street in a sheet of white. Good luck, and stay safe!

@catvalente yeah they closed school where we are and I thought they might be overreacting but it is damn cold. It's hard enough being stuck inside with a toddler, sorry for all the puke. Temps hopefully back to normal on Sunday or we begin to really test our family mettle hehe.

@catvalente -37 with windchill here. Cold enough that letting the dog take a leak outside felt like a bad idea with consequences measured in minutes.
