Having a gun go off near you is shocking and only exposure to real gunfire reduces that shock, games are too clean to actually prepare someone for battle. If anyone did pick up a gun for the first time to kill people after playing a game they would probably turn out like that failed mall shooter in Indiana who immediately got capped by a concealed carry chad.
