@Ricardus Not just blowed it up. It would have been a bigly byoootiful blowed it up. Blgliest blowed it up ever. A 10 out of 10, maybe 11 out of 10, blowed it up.And China would never, not never, not ever never do this while he was president. China would neverest have done this more than China has never ever done anything before. And some other people too. Lots of nevers. The neverest, all of them. Maybe some that wouldn't anyway. Never them too.Covfefe.

@Ricardus I wonder how hard it would be to snag and recover a high-altitude balloon, rather than just shooting it down? Most fixed-wing aircraft at that altitude probably move pretty fast; I guess maybe you'd need another maneuverable balloon/airship or something? If the Chinese are going to keep flying the things into US airspace it seems like the polite thing to do would be to snag them, analyze them, and then return the pieces to their embassy in a box.

@kadin back in the old days of spy satellites they used to use film and would eject a canister that would eventually release a parachute and fixed-wing aircraft had to learn how to catch those in the sky to get the film from the satellites. So this is the thing we used to do and can be done.
