Talking to a TV reporter this morning about ChatGPT I found myself way more on the skeptic/caution side than I would have expected—because it became clear the reporter didn't even know about the confabulation problem. Weird to hear myself saying "no, this does not replace humans," but it had to be said.

@TedUnderwood This is why people are right to be ringing the alarm bells. What seems obvious to some of us who understand such models (even vaguely) is not obvious to others.
