@cattailnu At first the wires felt like warm water rushing over her in a bath. Cool to the touch and the electrical signals tickled like bubbles. But the tickles soon turned to torment as each wire pierced her skin and entered her body. She gasped to scream, but the wires had already claimed victory over her voice and nothing came out. The picture was there when I moved in. On a the lounge wall. Watching, with that threateningly soft expression. A fusion of humanity and technology, emerging out of the wall. I did not really like it, but it seemed to add a certain character to the home.Then the dreams began. Electric, neon flashes along bright metallic threads, melting into visions of chips and circuits, growing ever more frenetic, ever more disturbing.After a week I could hardly sleep until, exhausted, that evening, I dozed in my chair.It was about midnight when I awoke from yet another dream of some strangely steampunk psychotech. At first, uncertain where I was, I gazed around with blurred eyes. The picture seemed to glow on the wall."Well, I suppose you fit the dreams I'm having," I thought. @cattailnu No. The M41D3N was already mad. She, when she still was the not-late daughter, designed the system that scanned the brain and tried it herself. That's how she became the now-late daughter. And then perfected the system from the inside. Scanning people keeps her madness in a manageable state and provides an associate TV network with enough material for their talk shows…=)

It wasn't "here's a log of you screwing up", I presented it as a "here's a log showing the problem we need to address" with "here are some tech solutions". I was a kid but my father took me to his job (to do his job) and the computer operators sometimes shuffled the punch cards before feeding them to the computer if the users were VIPs (very idiot people) =)

That didn't spared them from their well deserved pain and suffering.And some VIPs earned the right to have some cards lost thanks to their exemplary behavior. I must have a few of those lost cards here, 40 years later…=)
