@stux Brexit Heavens no. Brexit weakened the UK economy, and a weakened UK economy only helps Russia and hurts democracy worldwide. Brexit never should have happened. I can’t bring myself to forgive those who supported its passing.

@mansr @stux I'm not a huge fan of the EU. I think their decision making methodology is severely lacking. See action on Ukraine, and how a couple Putin puppet countries are able to stop things that the entire rest of the group wants to do. That said, I'm not British or from an EU country, so I don't have "insider" knowledge. The poll asked for my opinion, I gave it.

@stux From my point of view, Brexit was the best stupide idea the UK ever had.It was a mistake to let them in. Only the UK could correct that.

@stux where do I begin? ….the self harm it’s unreal. Stupid ideology. Exeptionalism. They used to say that once the UK would leave, Everyone would follow…..there were many lies and promises. We didn’t want Brexit in Scotland but here we are. 😢

@stux no. And didn’t at the time. Neither did the gov at the time. Neither did the consensus of experts at the time. It was so dangerous that even the vote itself was explicitly not legally binding. The fact it happened is a result of a series of incredibly corrupt decisions, and I will be unsurprised if in a few decades we learn it was a Russian initiative to destabilise the EU.

@stux good idea for whom? I voted no, since it wasn't good for most people involved.EU lost a bit in trade, UK lost a lot in trade. A lot of people moved out of UK.At the same time a lot of businesses from UK opened logistics centres in easternmost EU (it was cheapest + ppl already spoke English). So money moved out of UK.Rich people hiding assets in anonymous trusts also benefited and it was a close call with EU transparency laws entering in march 2021.

@stux @mbrmark Brexit was a Russian active measure. It was a good idea... for Russia. https://bylinetimes.com/2022/03/08/putin-plot-against-great-britain-and-how-he-got-away-with-it/

@Tedgarrison3 @stux You seem to be American. That doesn't exactly put you in a position to be criticising others over their decision making.

@stuxAs I am neither British nor European, I figured it wasn't really my business. But as a Texan, I thought "I have seen this brand of stupidity before."My prediction is that in a few short years, the UK (or member states separately?) will have to come crawling back to the EU and get none of the special arrangements they had before.

@stux I'm a US citizen, so my opinion is not relevant. However, I do care about the health of neighboring democracies abroad because "united we stand, divided we fall".As Britons reflect on the 3rd Anniversary of Brexit, it appears that thoughts and conversations have been happening in regards to the UK rejoining the European Union.https://blogs.lse.ac.uk/politicsandpolicy/public-support-is-on-the-rise-but-the-road-to-re-joining-the-eu-would-not-be-smooth/
