Hello. I expedited the Matrix server move a little bit so it's already up and running, chat and federation appears to work fine. I tried to take measures to make sure this one will run as smoothly as possible, and also to make the joining as simple as possible.Aside from stickers, the choice was to import nothing from the old server, and it's currently in the "read-only" stage and will be shut down in a couple of days. To be fair, there wouldn't have been much point importing stuff like chats anyway and profiles are now created almost automatically. The new server's Matrix address is chudbud.sbs.How to join?* If you have an account on Chudbuds (fedi), simply go to: https://matrix.chudbuds.lol - Sign in - Hit the "Continue with Chudbuds.lol account". Your account will be auto created after you accept the login request. After logging in you can also set a password and email address you can use to login later, if you really want to.* If you already have an account on another Matrix server, simply join with "/join #general:chudbud.sbs" command. No changes here.* For exceptional cases: If you don't have any Matrix account or Chudbuds fedi account, accounts can be also created manually.Frequently asked questions (that nobody asked):Why a new server?During the recent weeks I started noticing there was something wrong with the database that mainly affected joins over federation. The other servers were responding to HTTP requests just fine but our server was giving out SQL errors every time. This could be a factor of several things:- Running Matrix on Python 3.11 before it was even officially supported.- Running other experimental software that really shouldn't be used in "production" environment. - Overuse of various maintenance tools.- Server move with database dumping/restoring might have also played a role.So TL;DR: because I'm retarded. I'll take better care of it on this server so even if something goes wrong, there's always a backup to restore from. Why just start over on the old server/domain?Unfortunately it's not that simple. The server had also been federating with other servers. Starting a fresh, new server instance on the same domain would've just made the things worse. This is explained more in-depth here: https://matrix-org.github.io/synapse/latest/usage/administration/admin_faq.html#i-have-a-problem-with-my-server-can-i-just-delete-my-database-and-start-again--Sorry for the inconvenience but at least joining up should be easier than ever! Hoping to see you in the Matrix!@chudbere @johnfortnitekennedy @alfaniner @Stephanie_Bustcakes
