@sa0bse honestly, it's gonna be hard to use anything else, as I kinda really the compression and the untainted kernel… but I guess I'm just lucky enough it hit me with plenty of backups and while not particularly busy

Since the filesystem was broken anyway (for a seemingly dumb problem of a single bit flip) and I already have a backup, I went ahead and did btrfs check --repairNo more errors logged… could it be :blobcatsipsweat:

@xerz Yeah… my opinion is that Linux has the best filesystems of all the major operating systems (Maybe #FreeBSD has an edge here with ZFS… I want #Linux, #Microsoft and #Apple has nothing of value.). Both in kernel and out of tree (looking at you #ZFS and #bcachefs). Even with that in mind… I tend to think that the filesystem situation in Linux is terrible.I really don't trust ext4/xfs for anything of value, no CoW, no snapshots, and so on.I don't trust #btrfs and really want ZFS…

@sa0bse @xerz For what it's worth, I've experienced corrupted btrfs filesystems 3 times, and every time it's been bad hardware/motherboard (sata/pci controller occasionally flipping specific bits during disc reads, a bios helpfully writing a backup copy of the bios over part of the filesystem, and a memory bit flip of an internal btrfs structure before that generation got written to disc).
