@kairyssdal He knows. He chooses to pretend otherwise. (It would be helpful if journalists routinely pressed on obvious fallacies though.)

@kairyssdal and also not like a household budget, as per your previous observation. The problem is that the average American has zero economic education, so whatever anyone says sounds smart to them. Which makes these misleading statements extraordinarily harmful. And don’t get me started on the irrelevance of budgets in a fiat currency economy.

@kairyssdal if you’re against trite and condescending rhetorical simplifications of complex issues and ideas, then you’re against a America, bub

@kairyssdal One would need to convince his base of that. He believes this kind of language is effective with them. He’s likely right.

@kairyssdal You can't expect someone to be knowledgeable on financial matters when they can't discern between simple truth and lies and won't refuses to confront the liar and tell him you have no place here.

@kairyssdal But it does have to do with something their electorate can wrap their heads around that sounds good for their interests.

@kairyssdal Hacking Upton Sinclair: 'It is impossible to convince a man that the debt limit has nothing to do with a credit card when his job depends on at least pretending to believe that it does.'

@kairyssdal They won't.Australia suffers from the same "household budget" rubbish dished up by our politicians & msm.You might appreciate parts of this recent talk"The Commonwealth has constitutional, fiscal & monetary power - & therefore moral & political responsibility - to do everything it can to end involuntary unemployment & underemployment"Shireen Morris, constitutional lawyer (key info starts ~16 mins in)https://inv.riverside.rocks/watch?v=_MTAwf09PMc
