Vinyl may not be the best medium, but show me a 40+ years old digital record that still works and can be easily played/read. I have some soviet era ones that still play perfectly. Even the voyager one probably still works

@piggo well the compact disc has just gotten 40 years old, it must be quite difficult to find one that was made so early but it will probably play fine (sorry to be that guy)

@Gerris_Lacustris I haven't used a compact disc drive for years, none of my computers has a drive anymore. You can still buy it, but...

@piggo I have plenty of ways to play them but then I must admit I am not representative of the general population when it comes to physical media usage

@Gerris_Lacustris yeah I mean nobody uses a cd ... unless you have a giant collection of these and then you of course keep a bunch of stand alone players and stuff. I have all music as pirated and occasionally bought files, some also on vinyl for the feel and to feed the hoarding habit. I guess I'm a generation that never bought a music CD. My only real experience with CDs was when I needed to burn one with my university thesis and I ruined the whole package because Linux burning software was really broken at the time
