Coding, working on a server, or just simply browsing code in public places is terrible So many people looking at your screen and assuming you are 'hacking them' :nkoFacepalm: Movies really blew that and when people see just a bit of code it's immediately 'hacking' and they often assume they are interesting enough to be hacked somehow? :blobcatgiggle: I think at least the basics of coding should be thought in school, give people a clue at least or interest those who like early on!

@stux Depends on the area. Around here enough people are in tech that whipping out an editor, terminal, or IDE in public is par for the course :)

@stux use a light theme editor, and chance the font to Comic Sans, Times New Roman or something like that. They'll just assume you're using a boring text processor and leave you alone.

@stux I can confirm this for Germany, US, Mexico, UK, Ireland, everyone thinks you're a "hacker". I got already asked if I can "hack" Instagram when I was writing just some Ansible playbook 🙄 Applies to non-tech areas and spaces.

@stux decades ago I posted a video on how to delete files via command prompts and first comment was "Are you a hacker?". You can definitely tell people don't understand how things work.

@stux I know in a lot of UK schools they teach the basics of python now which I would have killed for at school.
