every two weeks i go on ebay and look at new-ish thinkpads. but i never hit 'buy'. because really i don't want a new thinkpad. i want to keep using my x200s. i love the x200s. the whole 'looking at new laptops' thing. it's just deflection. what i actually want is for fucking everybody to stop putting a quantity of javascript onto every web page that unrolls into billions of CPU cycles worth of shit to deal with just to show A Content

@publius @feld @jk yeah, the benchmarks look great, but real performance depends on how often the JSON deserializer prediction is correct. Otherwise the DIV cores just sit idle while it reloads the pipeline.

last week i was removing a bunch of old wallpaper using one of those scraping tools. just like a flat stainless steel thing with a wooden handle. it belonged to my grandfather when he was younger than i am now, and he used it to scrape the old wallpaper in the house that he and my grandmother moved into in 1962. still works fine, got all the wallpaper off pretty quickly. yet 'they' won't let me use my goddamned thinkpad anymore and its only a decade old
