@EU_Commission @djm how about you finally properly regulate and simplify the access, technical conditions and prices for competition? All the flimsy excuses by SNCF for example that hinder trains Paris-Brussels, Paris-London, Paris-Barcelona, etc.And while SNCF is a big sinner it is by far not the only one.

@EU_Commission a geographical hub and spoke model of 1 hour journeys. You can focus on the financial hubs, but you are not creating value outside of those hubs.Take Leipzig-Amsterdam for example. You'll either have to travel all the way north, or all the way south with a total of 11 hours of travel time. Compared to ~6.5 hours with car, ~3 hours with planePlace a train hub in the geographical center of Essen, Hanover, frankfurt and Leipzig. even with slow trains you'll have a 50% reduction

@EU_Commission well, that depends. I recent went by train from Aarhus, DK to Hamburg, DE with a few friends. It was more expensive and took longer than if each of us had driven our own cars. Let alone car pooled. It would have been even cheaper to fly.. With competitive prices I would chose the train any day. Next trip? Not so sure.

@EU_Commission It all depends on ticket availability. I try to always travel by train but especially for night trains, I often cannot book. Currently, it's really bad for Sweden, but it almost never “just works”, i.e. I get multiple tickets for different operators.Also: Why I can't buy I train ticket to Paris for next year? I can have a flight ticket and probably it will be rescheduled. So, it also won't hurt if I didn't know the exact schedule, yet.

@EU_Commission France is making Paris to a big Hub for all major trains passing France like anything from Germany to Barcelona. However doing that route is rather cumbersome as one has to go from Gare de Lyon to Gare du Est via Gare du Nord. Especially if you are travelling with kids I am always trying to route around.It would be nice if there could be either one central station in Paris or a better way to get around it as Paris is by no means barrier free. #ConnectingEurope

@EU_Commission How about making a one stop place for ticketing. If you are going across borders on multiple trains you currently have to go to lots of separate sites to book. Also 'encourage' travel businesses like Expedia to include trains as well as planes on their sites.

@EU_Commission Hope pricing can go down, flying is still way cheaper than any train, and I don't want to go by plane.When I'm travelling in the same continent, taking a plane should be something I never even have to consider, trains should be the most efficient and cheapest way to get somewhere.Flight subsidies need to stop, flying should become more expensive to encourage more railway traffic and development, which drives those prices down and makes them easier and more convenient
