@simon we watched episode 1 tonight and are hyped about it! Rian Johnson on a heater lately, particularly in our house where I have a hard time selling my wife on any TV!

@simon Same, we also just watched the first two episodes tonight and had similar thoughts! It's rare to find a show that my wife and I both enjoy, but Rian Johnson usually seems to manage it.

@btskinn you can see a bit of shared DNA but it's stylistically very different - it's got a fair bit more Columbo in it, and a very different feel to itI really enjoyed Knives Out and I'm really enjoying Poker Face, but they don't feel like one is a continuation of the other, they're definitely their own things

@simon Yeah, the common thread of the crack detective is clearly there, but from the trailers I'm not surprised they feel different.Definitely on our list to check out.

Poker Face update: it's now my favourite thing on TVEach episode introduces new characters that are so rich it makes other shows look kind of lazy in comparison Episode 8 in particular was an absolute gem - and works great even if you haven't seen the rest of the series

@simon I’m loving that they haven’t made it a tedious chase with the casino mob every time. And they don’t belabor the fact that she’s nomadic. The details are just what’s needed to build that episode. From the opening scenes where she’s not shown, I like to play “guess which sound effect is Charlie”. I know I’ll rewatch this and spot new things.

@simon love how you are using nitter for sharing bird stuff. I think it is definitely appropriate here. It would be nice if mastodon clients had a feature to replace Twitter links with links from some nitter instance.

@pietroppeter @simon seeing people post nitter links is great!I'm not sure what's possible on Mastodon, but I can configure my instance with a link replacer which will replace twit links with nitter 😁or, of course, there's link replacer browser addons that do the same thing sort of
