@freemo I know I have bad memory myself so for me its 5 but from what I've heard 3 is often the turning point. But I also wonder if you just forget things from early childhood when you get older which makes it shift up?

@freemo Wait, do you only mean this incarnation? Because I definitely recall St Helena 1821, Waterloo 1815...

@freemo My earliest memory is from when I was less than a year old, pretty wild, but I am absolutely sure it *is* a memory and real. How about yours?

@freemo Splashing in water, seeing my Uncle. Years later as a teen, I saw where it was my first outing. The memory is very brief, and I was never told a particular story about it.I also recall asking my mom, "Mom? Why are you my mom?" I wasn't asking *why*, I was asking where she got her name "mom" from, and how I knew it. I don't recall her answer, just asking it. Also, no story or retelling of that event, it's just a memory. In both cases, my memory of those is "first person view." I was "me."

@state Sorry for the slow response, I've been very busy. The earliest memory I know the exact date of I was 4 years old, when my mom got a new car and I was playing in it. I remember the day she got it well.I have an earlier memory from when i still was in the crib and before I could talk of my mom holding me and singing to me. I distinctly remembering saying "mommy" back when it was the only word I knew.

@freemo No worries, no rush, especially considering the topic at hand ;) It seems like maybe there are two kinds of first memories - a really early one (mine is also in the crib, looking through an open door into the corridor, my grandma passes by, sees I'm awake and calls for my mom, somewhere before the 1 year mark) and then another more more conscious one sometime at 3-4. I wonder what sort of thing kicking on does that signify.

@freemo This is a difficult one due to ‘memory #’ supplied by other family members and the photograph. I have some early ones that will be real but cannot place them in time.
