@thor A lot of taller buildings here don't have a 13th floor since 13 is considered such an unlucky number. So you could be on the 17th floor and actually be 16 floors away from the ground.

@candycaneannihalator @thor I've seen the convention of a star next to the elevator button that you can leave the building from (can be more than one)

@radix023 @candycaneannihalator don't assume that the UK does stuff the same way the rest of Europe does. it's basically the "America of Europe" with its own weird customs

@radix023 @candycaneannihalator in Norway, for example, if it's the bottom floor, it's the 1st floor, BUT if the bottom floor is the concrete foundation (as seen below), that's called the "underetasje" (sub-floor), and the top floor is then the 1st.

@radix023 @candycaneannihalator as a general rule, the floor with the main entrance on it is the "1st floor" here

@radix023 @candycaneannihalator Norway has many hills and mounds, so this type of construction is common enough to have its own name, "sokkeletasje"

@thor @candycaneannihalator having lived in West Virginia (mountain mama) it's normal for the back door to be a different floor from the front door
