       so is the "influence" that twitter has largely indirect?because normal people don't interact with it directlyis it influential in that the people that make media use it and that shapes THEIR perception, and therefore influences the media they create?or is this "influence" Great Man Theory at work, in that people with power are influenced by it directly?i dun geddit

       @izaya I'm not sure what a normal person is. I think a lot of people who aren't journos, famous ppl, or other influence junkies do read and post to Twitter regularly. Still, i agree that the fact that influential people care about what happens on Twitter is a major reason why it's important

       @izaya People have seen their issues on other stuff get ignored, @ ing the company on twitter, and then suddenly it's resolved. So I'd say it's people with power being influenced, but not in the Great Man Theory sense, but rather in the sense that they act based on what is written there - perhaps because a lot of them mistakenly believe that it reflects the opinion of the people.
